Founded in 2009 by Smt.Niveditha Priyadarshini, RKDA is a Detroit-based school committed towards education of Kuchipudi, a classical Indian dance style. Academy aims to create a community of Kuchipudi teachers and students in United States who can promote this dance form in the honest way possible, nurturing the traditional classical style together with learning RKDA training techniques and contributions towards evolution of Kuchipudi.

Our Mission Statement

Interpreting Vedic literature in a Scientific way. An attempt to create students who can balance eastern culture and western socialism via RKDA interpretations of Natya Sastra from our Vedic literature. RKDA believes that similar to how yoga from vedic literature can better the body and mind, Kuchipudi derived from natya sastra(Vedic literature) can add following benefits to a human body.

  3. Body Balance
  4. Stamina
  5. Focus
  6. Learn epic stories in the form of songs which teach good and bad discrimination skills.

In continuation of our mission statement, we are committed to:

  1. Inspiring to learn and practice this art form as part of improving student’s physical health. Academy believes that Kuchipudi dance form if taught and practiced in proper sequence can impact each part of the body evenly creating strong flexible body with enough Core strength.
  2. Academy is certified to Silicon Andhra(Sampada) certifications which help students pursue certifications gauging their knowledge which in turn can be presented for college applications. These certifications can be presented as 2.5 yrs. of Bachelors of Arts credits.
  3. RKDA follows realistic and practical approach in interpreting Kuchipudi dance form. Training techniques have evolved over the last 10yrs, designed into different paths for different body types such that a student can reach full body flexibility within 2.5 yrs. so far.
  4. Performances depicting day to day Moral Dilemmas which help kids make quick right decisions in this fast pace life.
  5. Pushing the boundaries of Kuchipudi through collaborations with local and international artists across various genres.
